"a script on your page is causing firefox to run slowly" What is it and how do I prevent it???

while surfing certain web sites, the last being Dell.com, the surfing comes to a halt and then a dialogue box appears stating " a script on your page is causing firefox to run slowly, do you want to abort it? I click on the abort botton but after a few minutes the same thing happens again. Is there a way to block the script from running to begin with, and what is this "script"???
