When an xml file (no matter what extension) is opened in Firefox it is displayed in text. However I want a specific application to open whenever a file is opened through Firefox. I've visited a lot of forums but didn't find the answer.

Thankx for the reply, but this is not what I mean. Maybe my description of the problem wa'n't to clear, I shall try again: I have web application which generates an xml file with the .nw1 extension. Whatever the extension of this file is, Firefox recognizes it as an XML file and display's the content. But this is not what I want, I want to open the xml file with a specific application. With Internet Explorer it opens according to the file-association, which can be personlized....

You can open the page source if you want to see the HTML code.

  • Firefox > Web Developer > Page Source
  • Tools > Web Developer > Page Source (Ctrl+U)
  • Right-click on a web page to open the right-click context menu and select Page Source
