Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
- https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
In Firefox 4 and later Safe mode disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.
Thanks cor-el I tried the safe mode several times and still had the crash problem. I also disabled hardware acceleration with no luck. I also updated my graphics driver software with no luck. (It shrunk all graphics and system fonts and it took several hours to fix it) I have not given up because I like FF and it worked perfect for two years before it went south.
Could you tell me how to interpret this CrashTime: 1317080035 which I just got today 9/26/11 at about 7.30 pm EST? Thanks again.
I found an answer for my time question. It is called epoch time.
Open the Scratchpad via Firefox > Web Developer (Shift+F4) and enter this text:
d=new Date; d.setTime("1317080035"+"000"); d.toLocaleString();
- Execute > Run (Ctrl+R)
- Execute > Display (Ctrl+L)
The "000" convert seconds to milliseconds.
Thanks cor-el. Very good information. Your script worked perfectly and produced: /* Monday, September 26, 2011 7:33:55 PM

It would be really nice to know the crash time with millisecond accuracy. But, I notice that the crash time only gives ten digits. I wonder if FF can supply a thirteen digit crash time.
My Firefox problem has been solved! My machine died and the puter tech replaced my Duo Core Intel CPU. Now, Firefox is working.
