After a couple of frustrating weeks it finally dawned on me that the version of FF I was using was wasn't going to function no matter, no way with Google's Toolbar. So... I downgraded to an earlier ver. (3.6.24)I had the Gmarks extension installed and thought it a little redundant and uninstalled it. As soon as I did, the bookmarks on the Google Toolbar stopped working, and I couldn't sign in. I said some words you wouldn't hear in a Sunday School.
</p><p>With no little trepidation, I followed your concise instructions, and we're back in business!! I honestly can't understand why Google is being so hard-nosed about this other than they want people to use Chrome, which I just didn't "get" at all, and it surely doesn't have all the niceties of Mozilla's FF extensions. Just my opinion.

I followed your instructions to the letter after searching many forums without success and it worked. Before finding your info, I rolled back from FF7 to FF3.6 to try and resolve but had the same problem. Do you think I should go back (or forward) again to FF7 and try the same? I really dont want to mess things up again now its working!!

i´ve found yours the more comprehensive and understandable way of "fixing" the Google Toolbar issue. the key (for me) was to find the lib folder; once founded, it was easy, even for a non-expert like me, to get again access to my Google account
thanks a lot,

</p><pre> Why would you tie your entire browser use to a third party toolbar, that was never really ever needed, let alone be held hostage to not update Firefox. Google had over a year to update their toolbar for Firefox 4 and the changes for Firefox 5 could have been tested for several months. Google waited a very long time before finally indicating that they would no longer maintain their toolbar for Firefox stating that it was not needed, and that the features were in Firefox. Also be aware that the features are also in their own browser which also does not need or use the Google toolbar. Not only is Mozilla open source, but all information is made available to anyone -- you can even listen in on meetings online yourself or wait for a printed review.

<strong>Life without the Google Toolbar.</strong>

VISTA?? I can get to all the steps suggested, though, and now, when I
type in the Find, Replace All <a href="http://www.google.com/accounts" rel="nofollow">www.google.com/accounts</a> it says it can't find that. But when I type <a href="http://accounts.google.com" rel="nofollow">accounts.google.com</a> in the Find, Replace it doesn't say that it can't find it--so seems to recognize the updated info. Hope that's clear.
</p><pre> One more thought-- another option that comes up after the "qoh0tp3s.default" step, right under the extensions option, is
GoogleToolbarData. When clicked, it brings up a list of 9 things, two of which were modified on 9/21--"features", PROPERTIES File, and "searchhistory," XLM Documents. On 7/12, "components" was modified, and 3 others in June. All of that may be irrelevant. I have reluctantly gone back to using IE when I want to get to my bookmarks, which work like they did in Firefox (ironically, I switched to Firefox when IE had compatibility issues with Gmail, which I couldn't resolve!). I have also set up Chrome, but hate the way the bookmarks look/work, and the Google Toolbar isn't compatible! I also put the bookmarks on igoogle---just so much juggling for something that worked so well!! GRRR!!! So, any other suggestions would be appreciated, though my tech skills are limited. Thanks much!!

</p><p>Like thalgas and cflammen say, you have to reach toolbar.js Which has been a bit complicated for me. Also this link helped me: <a href="http://randytayler.com/2011/09/cant-log-in-to-the-google-toolbar-miss-your-bookmarks-i-help-you/" rel="nofollow">http://randytayler.com/2011/09/cant-log-in-to-the-google-toolbar-miss-your-bookmarks-i-help-you/</a>
</p><p>Essentially, if you type: "C:\Users\username&gt;\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\&lt;xyz&gt;.default\extensions\&lt;{xyz}&gt;\lib"
</p><p>Nothing will come up because where it says "username" and "&lt;xyz&gt;" it's different in every computer.
</p><p>Open any folder of your pc (like "my computer") and type on the address bar "C:\Users\Michael\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles"
Changing Michael to whatever your username is on your computer.
</p><p>Then click on the only folder that appears (which I guess has a different name in each computer), then click on the folder "extensions" then click on the second folder in which you should find the final folder "lib" your looking for. Inside this folder is the file "toolbar.js". Right click on it and select open with notepad.
</p><p>Once your in just go up to Edit &gt; Replace, and enter the following in the “Find” field:
</p><p><a href="http://www.google.com/accounts" rel="nofollow">www.google.com/accounts</a>
</p><p>And then this in the “Replace” field:
</p><p><a href="http://accounts.google.com" rel="nofollow">accounts.google.com</a>
</p><p>Hit “Replace All”. Then Save, and close it.
</p><p>That’s it. Restart Firefox, and NOW the Google toolbar will let you log in.
