My financial institution recommends clearing my browsing history after I sign off. Can I do this without removing bank account numbers etc. I don't understand the descriptions of cache, cookies, etc.

I take it that you want to keep your cookies but not your history. You can select what gets deleted when you shut down Firefox from Options > Privacy > select "Use custom settings for history". Once you have done that, click "Settings" opposite "Clear history when Firefox closes" and uncheck "Cookies" and "Site Preferences".

Multi thanks. It seems to clear everything except what I wanted to keep.
