I tried rebooting but the problem still exists. There is no setting under the tab obtion to correct this.

Chosen solution

The Ask Toolbar is causing that in the Firefox 3.6.13+ versions. Uninstall that extension.

Yea! That solved it. I don't even know how the Ask extension was added. I did not install it.
