password saver, how do I use it

I am changing my AV from Norton and the new one doesn't have a password saver, I know firefox does but it doesn't seem to come up all the time and if I go into the options and see the saved passwords many are not correct, for example when I tried to logon to firefox supported using the saved password from saved password, I got a message password or user incorrect etc, how do I fix that?
