How do I stop Firefox from asking me to confirm closing a tab/page?

Posted

Firefox seems to require confirmation to close a tab/page only after I have entered data to a page, for me this is often and having to confirm closing a tab is putting a stutter in my workflow. This is the first awkward and unhelpful thing I've encountered in a long time of using Firefox and I would like to continue to so I hope you can tell me some way to stop this behavior. Thanks for your help

See Tools > Options > Tabs

warning me that I am about to close multiple tabs has saved me many times, so I gladly accept that choice. If you don't have a menu bar visible, use "Alt" key before selecting Tools.

I like to close all of the tabs to the right of a selected tab, or all of the selected tabs. Two of many choices in "Multiple Tab Handler" extension, and I like to see a viewable tab counter as well.

All extensions I use or used are described in

  • Windows: Firefox (Tools) > Options
  • Mac: Firefox > Preferences
  • Linux: Edit > Preferences

It is possible that there is a script running on that page that does a check if the tab gets closed.

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
