Newly loaded Firefox but cannot open it from desk top, has warning, about restrictions in effect on this computer. Know little about computer
Question as above. I have recently loaded firefox, because my computer connection to the web was so slow, this action was recommened by the service provider. It loaded perfectly well, but when I went out and then click on the desktop icon for Firefox it came up with this warning. Wherever else I try to get on to Firefox it comes up with the same warning.Warning is: "This operation is cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your systems administrator." I have no idea what this means or how to sort it.

I note from a web search Outlook may produce an error message similar to the one you are seeing. You will need to start firefox usually by clicking its icon, if that fails try using the run command.
What happens if you use the run command in Vista and use Runfirefox or Run firefox.exe Note you should be able to get the Run command by using keyboard keys Win + R (Press the Key with the windows logo, hold it down whilst pressing the R key, when you see the prompt key in firefox and then hit the return/enter key on the right hand side of the keyboard)
Thank you John, I did as you suggested, but I get the same message immediately. It seems wherever I try to start it from it comes up with this message. I'm a world class builder but not a computer engineer sadly. The whole sad saga seems to have started when I upgraded from Internet Explorer 8 to 9. It was working fine until that point and then instead of taking 4 seconds to change pages it now takes 4 minutes and upwards and I am close to launching the computer out of the window at this point.
As you mention IE8 did IE8 work ok, and does IE9 still work as expected ?
It is probably worth trying Firefox in Firefox's safe mode. The easiest method to enter safe mode is to use The menu options:
- Firefix button -> Help -> restart with add-ons disabled
Try:
Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

I am using window7. What ever I try, Fire fox is not opening. i have no problem with internet explorer.
This all seems to be Greek to me. Want me to reload and check all files?!??!?!? How about just leave Firefox behind and revert to IE. Never had that problem with "slower, older, buggy IE!!!!"
If you have problems and are not the first person to post in this thread maybe it is best to ask your own question (after reading the thread and trying any advice that may be relevant).
