-> click Firefox button and click Exit

Start Firefox in Safe Mode by Holding down the Option key while starting your Mozilla application.

As an alternate method, go to Utilities (in the Applications folder) and open Terminal, then run:

    /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -safe-mode

-> Firefox Safe Mode window will appear. DON'T SELECT ANY OPTIONS, just click Continue in Safe Mode

Firefox will now open up with just basic Firefox. Check if you can open the link mentioned below and perform the steps suggested in it:

I went to https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox%20hangs... But because Firefox is totally frozen, I can't access "tools". I'm using Safari and there is no "tools" on the menu bar in Safari. I checked each of the items on the Safari menu bar and there is no "tools". Help!

See if you can start in Safe Mode. I'm a Win person so you may have to translate into "Mac".

Hold Shift key down as you double click on Firefox icon>Ignore the page that opens>Continue.

See if you can access the link suggested by mha007. "Tools" is on the Menu Bar.

To open Firefox you could also try Right clicking(Mac equivalent) on the Firefox icon>Open.

You could also try opening via the Start Menu or the Programs folder in case the shortcut icon is corrupt.

Is Firefox showing in Task Manager(Mac?)? If it is, close process and application and try to re-start after a few seconds.
