After upgrading to Firefox 5, I saw two problems that I didn't see with Firefox 4 or 3:

1. The contents of the address bar don't change when I go to a different web page by clicking a link on the current page.

2. The icon displayed on a tab doesn't always change when I go to a different site in that tab. This happens intermittently, it might happen only when the new site doesn't provide an icon.

I'm using the add-on compatibility plug-in so that I can use the Google toolbar with Firefox 5, that might be relevant. I'm running on Windows XP SP 3.

Similar problem reported here: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/846435#answer-211613

Disabling IE Tab worked for me. (IE Tab 2 works though.) If it is not IE Tab, try disabling any other plugin that is reported as incompatible.

Thanks for the reply. However, since it's been two weeks since I posted my question, I've already solved the problem in a different way: I downgraded back to Firefox 3.6.18. Everything is working now.

I'll consider upgrading again when this problem has been resolved and Google Toolbar works without the add-on compatibility plug-in.

By the way, I also tried using Google Chrome, and found that it was unable to import bookmarks or other settings from FF 5.
