<p>Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs.<br>
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br>
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.<br>

<p>There is nothing wrong with "AVG Free" antivirus software, but you want to reinstall AVG Free without the "Link Scanner Component" to eliminate "AVG Safe Search" which is a disaster. You'll probably have to check out the other extension on Grisoft's site yourself.
