How to force bookmark subfolders to open to the left?

Using Firefox 4 with the bookmarks toolbar, the button to open the bookmarks menu is located to the far right. Now, when opening the bookmarks menu and browsing through the folder structure, the first submenu level opens to the left (as there is obviously no space to the right). Then, the second submenu level usually opens to the right (as there is now enough space). The third level opens to the left again and so on. This behaviour is expected but not very pleasent. Is there a setting to make only this menu structure always open to the left? (or more generally: let submenu structures continue to open in one direction until there is no more room and then let them continue to open in the other direction until there is no more room)
