Why is it that when I click on a link I have to move the cursor away from the link to get Firefox to follow it and open the new page?

This started when I upgraded to version 4.0.1. If I let the cursor hover on the link the page just stays the same, the status bar at bottom appears with the adress but nothing happens until I move the mouse, then the new page loads. This is no big deal, just a bit irritating because I usually don´t move the mouse after clicking on a link.
