Mozilla Firefox version 3.6.17 Unable to connect error message

I am into Information Technology, I am able to connect to the Internet using IE8. I checked for viruses, spyware, and malware but none was found. However, I am able to connect to Mozilla Firefox 3.6.17 when in SAFE MODE. I copied the information on all of the tabs while in SAFE MODE. Once back into normal mode, I compared the tab information from the SAFE MODE screen to the NORMAL MODE screen and all of the information was the same. I am still not able to connect to the Internet using Mozilla Firefox version 3.6.17 Unable to connect still appears. The Operating System on the desktop I was working on is Windows XP Home Edition SP3. My customer stated that he was able to connect to the internet using Mozilla Firefox version 3.5.2 a week earlier. I also did a system restore from a restore point about two months ago, but I was unsuccessful. Would having any add-ons keep Mozilla Firefox version 3.6.17 from connnecting to the internet ? I also deleted from Mozilla Firefox version 3.5.2 from the control panel. I downloaded Mozilla Firefox version 3.6.17, and it was saved to the desktop. I am able to install it, but still unable to connect error message appears again.

Please help I am out of options
