Ever since FF4.x was released Firefox ALWAYS crashes

Ever since upgrading to FF 4.x Firefox has become unresponsive and/or crashed constantly. This problem didn't exist with 3.x but after the upgrade Firefox has become virtually useless as a web browser. I don't ever get a Crash Report dialog box either. In fact, I have to go into Task Manager to manually force the program to close.
