With the new version of Firefox I am unable to open pdf ebills on the Bank of America site. I had no problem on earlier versions. There is no problem on Explorer opening the pdf.

According to this Firefox help item - [pdf files"] - Adobe does not yet maintain a plugin for viewing PDF files within Firefox for computers with Mac OS X. To view PDFs in Firefox: If you have a Mac with an Intel processor, the Firefox PDF Plugin extension can be used to view PDF files in Firefox. However, if you go to download this plugin extension - [ext.]- you find that it is "Not available for Firefox 4.0.1". In other words, if you are running the latest version of the Firefox browser, both Mozilla and Apple have left you high & dry.

Wow that really sucks. Also the Southwest airline site freezes every time I use and have to go to explorer. Thanks for the input. Can I go back to an earlier version of Firefox?

Error msg when trying to view bank file :

File does not begin with '%PDF-'

I found other articles out on the web, but in tech talk and several years old..........

This error occurs for me at a different bank. I did not have this error message until I upgraded to Windows 7 premium.

I came here, and hoped by upgrading to current Firefox version would remedy, but problem persists, but the error message was expanded to C:\users\ user1\appdata\local\temp\pdf16b5.tmp

Please expedite- I need to do online banking!

In my case it isn't just bank statements. Many pdfs start to download in the download window, and then an error statement pops up. But if I doubleclick the image in the download window, much of the time the pdf will turn up in the download folder on the dock and open up when I click on it. Sometimes this won't work. For my bank statement it won't -- and others as well, though offhand I can't think of which. I can get it to open in Safari. But it does seem silly that Mozilla hasn't developed a fix for it yet.

Like some others who have responded, I'm on Windows (7 Pro, 64-bit). Links to PDF files open just fine in the browser. It's these PDFs in the part of BofA's Online Banking describe by the initiator of this thread that cause problems.
