when firefox opens an additional screen, it fails to populate with information/content. why is this?

when using a web based mail server, in order to create a mail, or reply, firefox opens an additional window for the purpose. However, the window opens but with nothing present (i.e. no content, etc). How do I ensure that when this happens, the windoe opens correctly.
