If i have multiple Gmail accounts, can i open them in multiple App Tabs?

I have two Gmail accounts, one personal and one from university. I need to get notifications about both when a mail arrives, however when I've opened one account in a tab and pinned it up as an App Tab, whenever i try directing a new tab to Gmail, it automatically opens the one I've already set. Thus i'd have to sign out to log in on the other. Is it possible for me to have both accounts open in different App Tabs and both notifications to work simultaneously?
