I've reinstalled Windows, didn't backup Firefox bookmarks (i tought Firefox Sync will do that for me) and now it seems i've lost them. What can i do?

I've reinstalled Windows, didn't backup Firefox bookmarks (i tought Firefox Sync will do that for me) and now it seems i've lost them. What can i do? I have my sync key. I synced my data and told it to replace my computer information with the sync information. it said that my bookmarks and data was synced and i went to look for it and there was nothing. I can still access my bookmarks from my Firefox Home on my iPod but the bookmarks aren't there on my computer. what am I doing wrong?
