I can no longer open a new browser tab by either clicking the + at the end of the last browser or by using the Ctrl key + T, how do I fix this?

I have uninstalled firefox and reinstalled firefox to try and solve this issue, but it has not fixed the issue. To open a new tab I must right click any current page link to get a new browser tab and then navigate to a new web address. This is a recent issue that just started happening and I can't figure out what happened or what got disabled. Please help me fix this.
