I need to install Adobe Flash Player but there is no RUN to click on to download to the Programs Folder. Only Save and Cancel.

Posted

I just installed Firefox after many problems with IE and when I try to manually install Flash Player it says to click on RUN in the box. I have 2 choices - Save and Cancel. If anyone can help me with this I need it simple because this is totally new to me on Firefox.

1. Firefox doesn't have a "Run" feature for downloading executables.

2. Adobe needs to have Firefox closed for the Flash setup procedure to run.

Save the Flash setup file, close Firefox, and then run the Flash setup.

SAVE it to your hard drive in a place where you will be able to find it. After download is complete, click or double-click on the file you downloaded to start the install.

  1. Install or Update the Flash plugin to the latest version.
    • Download and SAVE to your Desktop so you can find the installer later
    • If you do not have the current version, click on the "Player Download Center" link on the "Download and information" or "Download Manual installers" below
    • After download is complete, exit Firefox
    • Click on the installer you just downloaded and install
      • Windows 7 and Vista: may need to right-click the installer and choose "Run as Administrator"
    • Start Firefox and check your version again or test the installation by going back to the download link below
    • Download and information: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
      • Use Firefox to go to the above site to update the Firefox plugin (will also install plugin for most other browsers; except IE)
      • Use IE to go to the above site to update the IE ActiveX
    • Download Manual installers.

  4. Update the Java plugin to the latest version.

Question owner

Some of we Iowans aren't exactly too smart when it comes to messing around changing things. So: #1 Where do I shut down Firefox? #2 I don't find any Flash Setup file anywhere. They all say Download and Save and automatically start. They don't ask where or anything. Java. Same problem. It said mine was out of date and I had to unload it before I could install one that would work. So I did and then nothing worked. Did a R&R and at least got that much back. And I suppose this all has to do with my RealonePlayer not loading or running too. It's 14 outside and the City says we're supposed to keep our walks clean after a snowstorm. I don't think so. Not when they're talking -4 tonight.
