Thunderbird 3.1.7 opens URL links in a browser. With FF4b9 is works the first time to open FF, but if I click on a second URL link within Thunderbird it gives the following error: "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system." In fact it provokes two error dialogues one after the other. In order to get the URL link to work, I have to close down FF. The URL link then works but still provokes the error dialogue. It is not until the URL link is used a second time that the link doesn't work and I have to close FF.

Make sure that Firefox isn't started with the -no-remote command line switch.

Cor-el, thanks for the reply and it has solved my problem. I didn't use the command line switch but it made me consider reverting to my default profile. This did not cause the problem, so I deleted my alternate profile and then loaded all the various plug-ins and extensions. Works like a dream now. I didn't manage to find what was a fault but I assume my alternate profile became corrupted.

I am very grateful.
