firefox wont load pages

Firefox won't load any pages. It just does nothing! I used to use it a lot until this happened a while back. I have reloaded it. I have started in Safe mode. If I run the mouse over buttons, they change shade, and some work. But if I want to look at connection settings Tools > Options >>> then the Options box will pop up empty. If I enter a URL, lets say www.bbc.co.uk nothing happens, no matter what I hit. I have also tried closing my firewall but still no results.

Any ideas??

Sometimes you only disable the user interface of security software, but the firewall services are still running in the background.

Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

I have Kaspersky 2011 The problem was solved by download Firefox 4

I have Firefox again!! Yipppeeeee!!  :o)
