on restarting firefox not found any of the items in history or bookmarked items.

when ever I close firefox and restart it all the saved bookmarked items and items in history just vanished/deleted/ not found. What I do? I have deleted firefox from my computer and reinstalled it by downloading from web but it didn't work.
