In older versions, I would click on "Help" and then "Check for Updates"

It is slighty different in Fx4:

  1. Go to Help > About Firefox. If there is an update, it is automatically download.
  2. Click "Apply update" button then Firefox is closed, then the Firefox update is installed, then Firefox is started.

If you want to do a manual check then you can disable:

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Update: "Automatically check for updates": "Firefox"

You can also keep an eye on the http://wiki.mozilla.org/Releases page to see when the next beta gets released.
