I upgraded firefox on windows 7 and now it will not load

I love Firefox when it works. I receive pop up messages to upgrade, upgrade and finally when I can't take it any more I upgrade and then BAM! It doesn't work; won't load nothing - nada. NO Firefox on my Windows 7 desktop. 1. How do I turn off the automatc update or messages to update. 2. How do I get Firefox back on my Windows 7 machine.
