Firefox freezes up when my iMac goes to sleep, & I must restart it everytime. Is there a solution?

it just locks up. I'll leave then come back to a webpage and Firefox will be frozen. I have a new iMac, but it was the same way on my old iMac. Seems like there is an issue on how the browser interfaces with my apple computer. any solutions, so I don't have to switch to Safari?
