I can maximize or minimize but the center square option doesn't work
I don' t like Firefox maximized so I use the smaller square next to the X in order to keep it at around 2/3 my screen size. That way I can see part of my screen in the background. All of a sudden, I can either maximize the window or, if I click the smaller box which is supposed to simply make it a smaller window, the whole thing disappears! Gone. Nada. No nothing. I can't get it to do anything and have to go to the task manager to maximize it though the taskbar shows it's still open, not minimized to the tray.
This happens sporadically and the only way I can change it is to open a new window, copy all my tabs over to the new window and then close the maximized one. I've tried closing it with the Ctrl, Alt or shift button pressed then exiting or Xing out of it, but no combination has worked.
Not happy with this at all!

I'm not seeing a problem like that with 4.0b7 on WinXP.
Did you create a new Profile for 4.0b when you first installed it? Or are you using the same Profile as you used with an older version of Firefox?
Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode?
Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."
Worked like a charm and kept all of my settings. I copied the localstore.rdf to another folder, deleted the original and restarted.
Firefox opened in the adjustable sized window and though it was the size of a postage stamp, I was able to resize it. Thanks!
I have a related problem so I thought it might be best to reply here? I'm not losing any buttons but I have my middle shrunken screen button set to a specific size. It is retained by firefox through any exit and rerun of firefox. However, when I restart my computer (XP) the screen comes back as a left half shrunken screen and I need to resize it every time to the size I like it to be. It never used to do this and previously, retained the custom screen size that I had set. Is this a new "feature"?
