How to keep FF Sync connected between sessions?

Sync keeps disconnecting between sessions, so have to provide username/password/phrase every time I run firefox. If I forget to do this = No Syncing, which sort of defeats the purpose :(

The information is in FF 'saved passwords' but sync does not connect to the server unless it is told to and still wants it typed in manually?

Windows 7 / FF 3.6.12
