Why will the Firefox program will not open?

A few days ago the firefox browser (version 3.6) crashed on me ( a few days after I updated it to 3.6 from 3.5) and ever since then I have been unable to open it. I uninstalled and re-installed it to no avail and then I went onto the knowledge forum and thought it might have been due to a corrupt profile as the issues were the same. However, I tried to locate the profiles and did not find any.

I then thought there may be an issue with the 3.6 version since I never had a problem with 3.5 so I uninstalled 3.6 and reinstalled 3.5 but Firefox still would not open. I then saw the 4.0 Beta version and tried that as well after uninstalling 3.5 but that did not work either.

I have also scanned my computer for a virus through use of Sophos and it says that my system is clean.

Please Help!
