Suddenly, when I click on a web site address in an email, nothing happens; Firefox used to open the page.
I am using a Mac computer, latest OS, and the Mac mail program.
Chosen solution
Try switching the default browser to Safari. Does the same web address now open in Safari? If so, then switch the default browser back to Firefox and test again.
So that worked. That's great! You're very welcome.

Make sure you have Firefox set as the default browser.

Firefox is set as the default browser. This does not fix the problem.

You are a genius! This worked. Thank you.

Please do not mark this as closed. I have followed these instructions (to set default browser as Safari and then as Firefox again, then closed and reopenned Firefox). This solved the issue for around 3 links. With the 4th link the problem reappeared.
I cannot keep resetting the default browser and closing and reopenning my browser every few minutes because I have a page open that is essential for VPN via Network Connect.
de-me,
Since this thread is solved for the original poster, It would probably be better if you ask a new question (start a new thread). That way, people can see your specific system details. You should explain that you already tried setting the default to Safari and then back to Firefox but that only worked a short time, for a few links.
You can also quit and relaunch Firefox and then the link will open in mac mail.
Worked for me after I quit and relaunched Firefox. Thanks! :)
