It is rarely needed to uninstall Firefox to fix your problem. May I ask what your original problem was?

You can manually start the uninstall wizard. Please insure Firefox is not open:

  • Hold down the Windows logo key on the keyboard then press R. This will bring up the Run dialog.
  • Enter C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\uninstall\helper.exe in the run dialog and hit enter. The uninstall wizard should start.

For further instructions on how to uninstall Firefox, see the Uninstall Firefox from your computer and the Uninstalling Firefox - MozillaZine KB articles. Please leave the Remove my Firefox personal data check box alone unless you want to remove your user data and settings, which is not recommended and may not be needed.

The pages were only opening partly and or were copleltely blank. I thought uninstalling Firefox would fix it but i totally wrecked my computer and just spent $100 for a guy to come to fix it as i could get on the net at all. The end result is that i have to use an old version of Explorer cos it wont download the latest version. I just tried to manually uninstall Firefox but the same thing happens..nothing..there is no response. By the way i cant use Firefox that is on my computer. I click on it and it and nothing happens.

Hi again,

You should try performing a clean install. This can fix corrupt files in the installation folder. This will not affect bookmarks, settings, or history.

1. Hold down the Windows logo key and press R to bring up the Run dialog.

2. Type %PROGRAMFILES% (or %PROGRAMFILES(x86)% on 64-bit Windows and press OK.

3. Right click on the Mozilla Firefox folder and press Rename.

4. Type in a new name, such as Old Firefox

5. Press Yes to confirm the name change.

6. Install Firefox normally from http://www.mozilla.com See How to download and install Firefox on Windows

I have this problem, it first started with mozilla not loading and getting some messages about dll files not found. Now I cannot uninstall and I strongly suspect it is due to a malware attack. Even the setup file for this application will not load. I can still use IE and google chrome. I have a strong feeling this malware targets specifically Mozilla

I have tried the methods to uninstall outlined here and NO LUCK. I have run antivirus and nothing found although with about 50,000 new malware per day I guess it will be some time before a solution / definition for the virus comes out.
