Firefox 4 Beta doesn't show pages, but seems to load them.

I installed Firefox beta 4, but every time it opens I cannot see any content. The tabs and toolbars are on the top, but the rest of the screen has the glass look and shows only the stuff behind firefox.

Also, what appears to be a status bar, (with noscript icon and sync controls) shows up on the top left just below the toolbar.

I can navigate to pages, go back and forward, and see it all load in the tabs at the top, but I see nothing below.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

Try to disable Tools > Options > Advanced : General: Browsing: [ ] "Use hardware acceleration when available"

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Neither safe mode nor disabling hardware acceleration made any difference.

The new profile solved it. Thanks.
