Firefox often, at least 2 times a day, automatically goes to "off line" mode and kicks me off internet

When I am on my wireless internet, at home or sometimes away, I get booted off the wireless with an error: "uncheck work off-line". This happens way too much. I am using a Macbook, OSX 10.5.8 Leopard Firefox 3.6.11
