auto completion in the address bar does not work well

Posted

Usually I have 2 tabs still open in the browser: gmail and hotmail. When I open a mew tab and I start typing in it one 'm' for login in facebook and open my MouseHunt page the auto completion feature deletes the 'm' I have typed and replaces it with the 'switch to tab' of gmail, placing directly in address bar 'https://mail.google.com/mail/?shva=1#inbox'. So the 'm' I've typed becomes magically an 'h' followed by the rest of address. I suggest to improve auto completion: if I type one 'm' auto complete it with an address that starts with that 'm' or with the part of an address that starts with that 'm'. One great idea (in my opinion) may be showing 'https://' in a box between the one with the 'Switch to tab:' text, next display, in the rest of the address bar, the 'm' I have typed followed by the trailing part of the predicted address, in this case it would be 'ail.google.com/mail/?shva=1#inbox'. In this manner when I type the 'o' of mousehunt you can change the "prediction" and complete it in this manner: 'http://apps.facebook.com/mo|usehunt', where the square brackets identifies the box and the pipe ( | ) identifies the start of auto completion.

Thanks cor-el for the reply. I did not know these filters I can apply in the URL bar, now I will try to learn about it.

Anyway the bug seems to be resolved in beta5, now the auto completion does not delete what I've typed.

Keep up the work, I think it's great ;-)
