"Connection Reset" for all websites since Upgrade

more options

Ever since FF automatically installed the latest upgrade (yesterday), every time I try and fire up any website, I get "The Connection was reset" error message. Furthermore, I get the same result whenever I try to use any other browser (IE, Crome).

Other info. Firewall Status: Off, tried to remove and add FF exception back in as I read in some other article, but didn't work. Anti Virus Software: Was on, turned it off, same result. Remains off. Ping: When I ping websites through command prompt, I get replies no problem. Other Applications: Other applications, such as AIM and FTP programs can connect to the internet fine. HTTP Watch: When I run HTTP Watch, all it says is "1 Request" and doesn't "hear" anything back. Network computers: Problem free on my laptop since upgrade. In fact, I am typing this on my laptop since I can't access this page on my desktop. OS: Windows XP

Any ideas or solutions? I appreciate your time.

I had the same symptoms. Turns out something had set up a proxy (probably spyware). Start IE, select Tools | Internet Options, click Connections, LAN settings, uncheck "Use a proxy server for your LAN."

Wow. Problem solved. Thanks a lot man. I can't believe it was something as minor as that.
