Hello Marty Pitasi,
many printing problems can be resolved by clearing the print.* preferences in about:config. Here's how you do it:
- In the Filter textbox enter print.
- Right-click each remaining setting and select Reset .
Try to print again and see if the issues still occur!

Where is the print command?
Where is abou. config?
I am using firefox in Google desktop and can not find any menus for anything
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/about%3Aconfig
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.
I have been battling this since it popped up suddenly last week. Got it working, then again not, tried installing different clean versions with new profiles, no luck. IT WAS ZONE ALARM!! I upgraded to the newest version of my product (that they released for Firefox 8 support) and now I can print fine to every printer.
I got tired of futzing with it. Sometimes resets worked, sometimes not. They never held.
I love Firefox as a browser ... but when I want to print a page I use Chrome. I just copy the URL from Firefox, paste to Chrome, and print. Flawless.
When it comes to printing, Google seems to get it. BTW, I'm using OS X Lion on a MacBook Pro.
