Hello Cheryl.

You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in safe mode and select Disable all add-ons. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See this article for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.

If you want support for one of your add-ons, you'll need to contact its author.

I thought I had it whipped, but it is started again while I was adding in pug ins. Now it does it with all the add ons turned off except the google tool bar, which is the bookmark I am having trouble with. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that didn't help. Is it the google toolbar that is the problem?

Your plugins list shows outdated plugin(s) with known security and stability risks.

# Shockwave Flash 10.0 r42
# Next Generation Java Plug-in 1.6.0_19 for Mozilla browsers

Update the Java plugin to the latest version. See http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp#jdk (you need JRE) http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

I have between 2 and 3 seconds to click on the folder I need.

Are you opening folders in the Bookmarks menu or does it happen in the main menu list?

You can also open the bookmarks in the sidebar with Ctrl+B (View > Sidebar > Bookmarks).

If you are having problems only after installing a specific extension, then there is a problem with that extension. You need to contact the extension's author for support.

The same applies with plugins, themes or any other add-ons.

Does it still happen in Safe mode with all extensions disabled?

I open it in safe mode and diasable the add ons. Then I enable google tool bar and restart. I don't enable anything else. After I sign in and check it- it does it again. The speed that it closes does vary. Sometimes I can't even scroll down 3 or 4 places and sometimes I can make it to a sub folder

Do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop. Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer. It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

You can initially skip the step to create a new profile, that may not necessary for this issue. ..... See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Clean_reinstall --- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_backup and Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox

Will I lose passwords, bookmarks or anything when I do this?

more options

No data will be lost on reinstall unless you specifically instruct the uninstaller to do so (there is a box that you need to check - erase all my data - if you want to loose your private data).

I downloaded to desktop and uninstalled. This part I am not sure about - remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.

The program folder is the folder where Firefox is installed. Normally it can be found at C:/Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/ In any case, what really matters is that the folder where you will install Firefox doesn't exist, so you may choose not do delete your program folder, just as long as you install Firefox in a folder that does not exist, all is good.

I had the exact same problem, Google Bookmarks menu closing before I could select anything. I got rid of this behavior by disabling Translate-option from Google Toolbar.
