Keyword.url is set to google, but the adress bar still searches with bing.
I suspect this is something that Windows did rather than Firefox, but since it affects Firefox, hopefully someone can figure out how to stop the problem. I've gone into about:config and changed the keyword.url to the "I'm feeling lucky" Google search, but when I type something into the adress bar ( The word "google" for example ) Firefox does a Bing search for the term. Anyone know how I can fix this? The normal way to fix it doesn't seem to work. I'm using chrome in the meantime, but I really do prefer Firefox.
I've got Windows 7 64-bit, and Comcast cable

1) ---> in the browser's address bar type, about:config 2) ---> in the Filter type, Keyword.URL 2.5) ---> right-click it and select Modify (or double click it if you want) 3) ---> now type, http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&q=
all done! congrats!! :D ok fine you can close the about:config tab -_-
Due to a recent Windows update, the instructions by outlaw may or may not correct your problem. See: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Removing+the+Search+Helper+Extension+and+Bing+Bar
In some cases the above article does not resolve the problem with URL/location bar searches being redirected to Bing when entering a single word in the URL/location bar.
