How do I remove Yahoo tool bar?
Please provide step by step solution to unintall a Yahoo tool bar. Thank you
- Go into Tools > Add-ons > Extensions.
- Locate, in the list presented, the extension that enables Yahoo's toolbar (probably called Yahoo toolbar or something similar).
- Select that extension.
- Click the button Disable or the button Uninstall.
- Restart Firefox for the changes to take effect.
If you can't detect which extension it is, ask for help and I'll help you. If you don't want to uninstall or disable the toolbar and just want to hide it, go into View > Toolbars and click the entry that refers to Yahoo's toolbar (if it's present and enabled).
I hope this helps.Read this answer in context 189

I have done kik0 JudgeDredd182 falcodore morbus and cor-el's solutions either before i came on to this thread or after and yahell is still there i do not see any delete option in the add-ons manager i have disabled it i have uninstalled it from my computer uninstalled yahell mess. ( i have too many friends on there to do without the POS) yet the beast remains on my menu bar and insists on changing my search engine once a week to yahell it is acting like a ghost program on my computer i have removed all traces of it yet it still works and still around i am just about to uninstall reinstall Mozilla and start over because this is really annoying. the biggest difference i seem to have no one else has said yet is that even though the TOOLBAR is gone yahell has put its own tab in my MENUBAR that wont go away and no matter how many times i remove the yahell search from my engine list once a week it pops back on it among other things like changing my homepage and messing with already open tabs... PLEASE someone out there tell me i am not the only one with this extremely annoying issue with yahell and you know how to do an exorcism of it.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
I did (create a new profile) and nope that ain't it! My addons do not show when I try the addon manager. I try to open all addons and that does not load either. Yipes any and all help is appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!! Marilyn
Did you try to (re)install your extensions because a new profile won't have any extensions installed?
I did not reinstall all of them but a good deal and it is a no go. None of them show under extensions.
It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created when required.
See "Corrupt extension files":
If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to check if there is a compatibility update available.
this is not my computer so i cant make another profile it would be easier for me to uninstall Mozilla then reinstall in and start fresh then to make a new profile on the computer
What is the difference in making a new profile in the current installation or reinstall Firefox? To do the latter and make Firefox create a new profile would require to remove all personal data when uninstalling.
To create a new profile in Firefox 13+ you can use the reset button on the "Help > Troubleshooting Information" page.
I unnistalled and then reinstalled Firefox. The addons do not show, still have Yahoo etc etc etc...................
I had the same problem - downloaded a free program and next thing I knew, Yahoo had taken over my Firefox search bar. One solution that works for me (Windows 7, 64-bit) is to do the following:
Go into the computer C: drive > Program Files (x86) > Mozilla Firefox > searchplugins.
In that searchplugins folder, simply delete the "yahoo" XML file. Restart Firefox and voila! no more Yahoo!
Thank you so much for posting this. Kids, grandkids etc just called and came by so I will try to use this a bit later on tonight and will let you know how that works out.
This has happened to me a couple of times. It happens whenever you install something from Yahoo. The best way to get rid of Yahoo is to create a new profile.
I did it as you mentioned and at first I thought it worked but after a warm and then a cold boot it is still there. I have tried all the things suggested here.
