Memory Leakage

Firefox 3.5.9 and 3.6 leak memory so badly the screen will not scroll at all at times, rarely scrolls smoothly. Appears to be the same sort of memory leakage that occurred when Mozilla introduced 3.5 prematurely. Encountered severe leaks when I upgraded from 3.5 to 3.6, and reverted to 3.5 (3.5.8, I believe). Apparently auto-updated to 3.5.9 and am again having constant, system debilitating problems. Available memory drops as much as 320 Mb upon opening Firefox, and doesn't resolve. Firefox consumes as much as 178 Mb in steady state when open (possibly more; I don't constantly monitor usage). Installed LeakMonitor and RamBack upon advice of Mozilla FAQ; the only difference it seems to have made is that on certain web sites LeakMonitor reports leaks repeatedly, sometimes more often than I can close the report windows. 1) IS THERE A STABLE VERSION OF FIREFOX AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD? 2) WHY DOES MOZILLA CONTINUE TO RELEASE VERSIONS WITH MEMORY LEAKS?
