Hi Craig, are they little windows that open outside of the page in the corner of the screen? Those usually are notifications.

You can delete notification permissions from the sites that have it to see whether that helps. See: Web Push notifications in Firefox - see the "How do I revoke Web Push permissions for a specific site?" section.
