Restarting my laptop never reinstalled what was open on my browser

Firefox tanked everything I had open on my browser including job postings that I was applying to. I can't get them back. I'm so furious beyond belief! Everything I was researching - ALL GONE!!

What was never installed on the browser?

I had the browser open and was working on things. I was told that it needed to be restarted. Usually when the laptop is restarted, Firefox reopens with all my tabs. This time it tanked EVERYTHING

Did you try the cnt-shft-t combo to restore the sessions? But if you close before doing this any sessions stored will be gone and if any is left they would be listed in the history files.

Sorry to hear about this problem. As you say, it usually works fine.

Two preliminary questions:

(1) Did Firefox mention any problems when it restarted, such as needing to create a new profile? In the case of needing to create a new profile, check the steps in the first section of the following article to check other profiles: Recover lost or missing Bookmarks.

(2) Did Firefox suggest a Refresh/Tune-up? The telltale sign is a new folder on your Windows desktop named Old Firefox Data. If you have that folder with fresh data inside, please pause and we can suggest how to use its contents.

Otherwise:

Could you check whether either of these are available (not hidden or grayed out):

  • "3-bar" menu button > History > Restore Previous Session
  • (menu bar) History > Restore Previous Session

If they are missing or grayed, check either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > History > Recently Closed Windows
  • "Library" toolbar button > History > Recently Closed Windows
  • (menu bar) History > Recently Closed Windows

Anything useful there?

I'm sorry I wasn't able to get back to you sooner. Thank you both. I was unable to use the restore session as it wasn't listed. But I am in the process of going through the history to find what I need. I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you!!
