FF not opening after using Ccleaner

more options

Hi, In the last hour FF has stopped working completely. I made the mistake of using Ccleaner, which is probably the problem, I haven't had issues cleaning before, though I usually check the registry before deleting and don't recall seeing any entry for Mozilla (I may be wrong, though).

Firefox was working fine a couple of hours ago, but now it won't open at all, except in admin mode and then it won't open any links or tabs, not even settings. I've uninstalled FF, deleted the folder in the Programs folder, and reinstalled it from scratch, but there is no change (the one difference is that it wouldn't open in Admin after before I reinstalled it). Waterfox doesn't open either, but Thunderbird seems to work with no problems.

Thanks, Matt

WOW... Sounds like a hot mess. Time to install, but into a different directory than your previous install and see if during the new install process it ask you to import something from previous browsers. You can also see if from the add / remove program window you can repair Firefox. I'm not sure, I try to avoid windows.  ;-)) I am curious so let me boot windows and see.

Yeah, in windows now and there is no repair option in the add / remove programs. You could also just reinstall and cross your fingers.

Same problem - I fixed it by uninstalling CCleaner - sort of. Firefox now loads, but it keeps forgetting key settings, such as having the sidebar open.

Shame on Mozilla for not providing a repair/reinstall option. This is my default browser for key activities (e.g. banking) and I don't dare uninstall it for fear of losing login/setup data. Ish.

Is that the only issue right now? Other users have been reporting that, but didn't mention using CCleaner. For example:
