Cannot send email from windows 10 file explorer or from within Office 365 apps because of mapi failure after updating to Nebula 130.0b3
Hello. I am a registered Thunderbird donor. I was using Nebula 128 with no problems on a desktop computer with Windows 10. (The computer will not allow upgrades to Windows 11). All windows updates are installed properly. After updating yesterday to Nebula 130.b03 I can no longer send emails directly from Windows desktop explorer using the send to email recipient right click function (it does nothing) or from within an Office app (Excel and Powerpoint say there is a problem with the mail client and to restart the mail client, (which I have done multiple times). Word shows a Mapi error, which I include a picture of.
From within the app, I can send and receive emails with no problems, on my different accounts, but this lack of functionality is really aggravating. I would love to be able to rollback to 128, (not sure how to do so or if it's possible, and also if it wouldn't automatically update me back to 130)... or would also have to wait and see if the next update whenever that is fixes the problem.
I have obviously restarted both the computer and Thunderbird several times, with no luck. Tried running Thunderbird in troubleshooting mode, but had the same result.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. John

Hello. After much soul searching and backing up, I followed your advice and installed the 32 bit version over the previous one. It fixed the problem completely. Thank you so much!
I only wonder why the 64 bit version worked fine until the beta 3 update for Nebula. Just curious.
Sending email from within an app or from desktop explorer is incredibly useful. You don't really know how much until you lose it...
Hope future updates (to the 32 or 64 bit version don't break this again...
Thanks again, John

(Assuming you have installed the 64bit beta, which you can confirm in help > about) Try installing the 32bit from https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/130.0b3/win32/en-US/Thunderbird%20Setup%20130.0b3.exe
Hello. Yes, I'm using the 64 bit version. (Which I was using before the Nebula update to 130 without any problems.
I tried installing the 32 bit version, but it's asking me to set up all my email accounts. I have over 10 years and about 6 different emails set up in Thunderbird, and am very wary about losing them (I have backups, of course, but we all know what can happen with new setups.
I did NOT overwrite the 64 bit version, which works, except for sending emails from explorer and other apps, as I mentioned in my first post.
Can't help thinking it might be fixed in the short term with a new release, and would not like to risk setting up the 32 bit version and losing stuff...
Thank you so much for the suggestion, though.
John
Install the 32bit into the the previously existing program folder where 64bit is installed. You'll be fine.
