WHY is it that I can get into my email account through Thunderbird and download mail, but when I try to go into the account manually I can't? I go into the settings copy the password, then manually input it into gmail, but it says it's the wrong password? I am using MacOS 10.14.6, and Thunderbird 115.12.2 (64-bit)

Thanks.

If I understand correctly, you are attempting to access Gmail online with the password used by Thunderbird. It does not work. Google assigns a unique code to your PC, to be used only by that PC, no other. To access Gmail website, you need the 'real' password.

If Thunderbird uses a unique code to access Gmail, then why does it store the email passwords within the program itself?
