firefox browser
After years of Firefox, suddenly I cannot start Firefox. It crashes in less than 5 seconds after I try to open it. Safemode did not help. Reloading Firefox did not help. And I certainly need my bookmarks and history. I have no idea why it is suddenly happening. i am on a Dell Desktop, windows 10, 64-bit machine. Both Malware Bytes and Norton show there is no malware.

Disable both Malware and Norton, reboot and see if it works. What version of Firefox?
Try rebooting into Windows Safe Mode with networking enabled.
Do you get the crash reporter?
See also "Viewing reports outside of Firefox":
No Crash reporter appeared. It just closes within 2 seconds and there is nothing to click on.
Anything in the Windows Event Viewer logs ?
In answer to all suggestions: (1) I had already tried disabling Norton and Malware bytes and it did not help. By the way I have the latest edition of Firefox, and, as I believe I had mentioned earlier I tried downloading it again (certainly latest version) and it did not help
(2) Someone said: Try rebooting into Windows Safe Mode with networking enabled. I do now know what this means or how to do it so I would need detailed directions to try it.

By the way, If I can do it within 2 seconds literally, a screen pops up asking if I want to restore Firefox or start new session--and both can be clicked. I tried both, and neither worked.
