Opening maps in private mode

Hi, while I was browsing in private mode I opened a link to google maps. I was expecting to be navigated to the google maps website but instead it opened the maps application. This means no private mode anymore since now history is kept in google maps. I was expecting complete privacy by default whilst in private window. Is it though any configuration I can apply so it will stay in the private window?
