Forwarding messages in Dark Mode

I run Thunderbird in Dark Mode under Windows 10. When I try to forward a message which was in Light Mode (which most of them are), the frowarded message appears OK, but the area of screen above it where I want to type new text is also now in white with white writing, so I can't see anything other than the cursor. I've tried to change the font color, but that doesn't work - it remains white on a white background.
